Analysis of kit’s detection ability forSARS-CoV-2 variants
The kit can still provide perfect sensitivity and specificity
The SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant was first reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) from South Africa on 24 November 2021 and was considered to be more dangerous than the Delta variant. SARS-CoV-2 variants are classified according to their lineage and component mutations. Currently, there are mainly variants of SARS-CoV-2 in the world, B.1.1.7 (Alpha), B.1.351 (Beta), P.1 (Gamma), B.1.617.2 (Delta), B.1.617.1 (Kappa), B.1.525 (Eta), B.1.526 (Lota), C.37 (Lambda), B.1.1.529 (Omicron), etc. Current SARS-CoV-2 Variants of Concern include B.1.1.7 (Alpha), B.1.351 (Beta), P.1 (Gamma), B.1.617.2 (Delta) and B.1.1.529 (Omicron).
Biotephy SARS-CoV-2 Real-time RT-PCR detection Kit is designed to target conserved sequences of ORF1ab gene and N gene. Based on the data of variants published all over the world, we have done sequence alignment analysis on the mainmutation sites.
Through analysis, we found that mutation sites of currently announced variants don't affect the kit's detect performance. The kit can still provide perfect sensitivity and specificity. We will continue to concern the gene mutations of SARS-CoV-2 so as to ensure accurate test results.
